Psychiatrist

Welcome!  I am a psychiatrist practicing in Marin County, California. A native East coaster, I went to Harvard Medical School before coming out West for specialized psychiatric training at UCSF.  I have been a faculty member at UCSF since 2009 and I teach psychiatry trainees. 

In my practice, I offer diagnostic consultation, psychotherapy and medication management.  My style is warm and interactive.  I listen with the goal of understanding, not simply responding, and I strive to provide clear, non-rushed explanations of problems and treatments. 

As a medical doctor, I am familiar with the interplay of medical issues and mental health.  I welcome collaboration with other members of my patients’ treatment team, including other therapists and primary care doctors. 

I am trained in psychopharmacology and comfortable managing complex medication regimens.  That said, I streamline medications as much as possible, and I have extensive experience with the process of tapering off of medication when appropriate. 

If you have insurance and would like to use it, I am an "out-of-network" provider.  This means you would pay up-front, and I can provide a bill that you submit to your insurance for reimbursement, usually at a lower rate than "in-network" providers. You can ask your insurance about your "out-of-network" benefits. 

I see adult and young adult patients only. I do not specialize in famiIy or couples work , though I invite partners to participate. Issues I specialize in include:
